“Walls Out” Tour of Wall Street

Walking Tour with Dana

To succeed on Wall Street you have to have a balls out mentality, am I right? The timid will never survive south of Fulton Street.  With this in mind, welcome to Vibe Tour’s Walls Out history of Wall Street jaunt.

This tour is a frank exploration of Wall Street’s audacious history. From the ruthless means by which the Morgans, Goldmans and Rockefellers achieved great wealth and success, to the scandals of Ivan Boesky, and Bernie Madoff, Wall Street's famed history is often told through the eyes of admiration.  And, as a former trader, I can affirm that greed is indeed good, but not always ethical or legal.

What we’ll be covering

  • J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, and the Rockefellers: These figures were instrumental in shaping Wall Street and American finance. Their methods—whether ruthless or innovative—had a profound impact on wealth distribution and economic power. Understanding their strategies and influence will provide insight into the foundational and fiercely competitive dynamics of Wall Street.

    • Ivan Boesky: Known for his role in insider trading, Boesky became a symbol of 1980s financial excess and corruption.

    • Bernie Madoff: His Ponzi scheme, one of the largest financial frauds in history, exemplifies the catastrophic consequences of unethical practices.

    • The Dot-Com Bust (2000): This event marked the collapse of the overinflated tech market, revealing the volatility and speculative excess of the late 1990s.

    • The GameStop Short Squeeze (2021): A recent example of market manipulation and the power of retail investors versus institutional giants, illustrating new dynamics in stock trading and market volatility.

    • Savings & Loan Scandal (1980s): This crisis involved the collapse of savings and loan institutions due to mismanagement and corruption, leading to significant financial fallout.

    • The Great Financial Crisis (2008): A result of risky financial products and lax regulations, this crisis had global repercussions and exposed deep flaws in financial oversight.

    • The Great Depression (1929): The stock market crash of 1929 and the ensuing Great Depression reshaped the American economy and led to major regulatory reforms.

  • Exploring how these events and figures influenced economic policies, regulatory frameworks, and public perception of financial institutions will provide a fuller picture of Wall Street's role in shaping societal structures and individual lives.
